Alleged Rape: Musician,Dbanj challenges Activist,Segalink to "say the truth" after he condemned the act

DBanj has taken to his Twitter handle to challenge activist, Segun Awosanya aka Segalink to tell the truth concerning the controversies surrounding the rape allegation leveled against him by a lady, Seyitan Babatayo.    Recall that on Friday, July 3, Segalink took to Twitter to condemn the ''vicious and hateful approach of BMC & e-Feminists'' on the case which he said is at the expense of Seyitan’s wellbeing. He alleged that the "malicious interest group" erroneously believe that Seyitan’s reluctance in taking their orders, was connected to him.     On Saurday July 4, DBanj tweeted at the activist to go ahead and tell the true story of what happened. He asked Segalink to mention the names of the persons who told him Seyitan was allegedly abducted after she accused him(Dbanj) of rape.   See his tweets below..  

Ekiti State Chief Justice frees 33 inmates

Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, has set free 33 inmates of the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti. The beneficiaries comprised 18 awaiting trial inmates, 13 convicts and two others who were granted bail. Daramola said his visit to the correctional centre was in line with the directive of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, to decongest the correctional centres across the country and reduce the spread of the ravaging COVID-19. A statement from the Chief Registrar of Ekiti State Judiciary, Mr Johnson Apuabi, stated, “The 13 convicts were granted amnesty based on old age. Others were pardoned based on the fact that their jail terms were near completion. “In all, 334 cases were reviewed; 18 were pardoned based on lesser offences committed ranging from burglary to stealing and theft, while two were granted bail on liberal terms.”

Haliru Alhassan, Former Minister of Health dies at 66

Former Minister of Health, Dr. Haliru Alhassan is dead at the age of 66. The late Minister said to be the childhood friend of Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, was diabetic before his death. Daily Trust reported that Alhassan who served as the Minister of Health under the administration of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, died around 12 noon on Sunday May 10.  Before his death, he was serving as the Chairman of Governing Board of Health Services Management Board in Sokoto state. He is survived by his wife and 4 children. 

Two patients on the run after testing positive for Coronavirus in Kaduna

Two Coronavirus patients have reportedly absconded after being notified of their test results by health officials in Kaduna state.  In a statement released today May 10, Kaduna state's Commissioner of Health Dr. Amina Mohammed-Baloni said the two patients had been on isolation pending receipts of their test results, and had been duly informed on Friday that they had tested positive. Confusion as 30 year-old man hangs himself in Nasarawa

A 30-year-old man identified as James Samuel, hung himself in a classroom at Government Secondary School Gurku, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa. The body of the deceased was discovered on Friday, by one of the residents in the area, who is also a police officer serving in Abuja, who quickly reported the matter to the Gurku Police Outpost. An old picture of the deceased and one of a woman believed to be his mother were found at the scene. The body of the late James Samuel was brought down in presence of the police and taken out of the government facility by family members. James' father, Chief Samuel who is the Tiv community leader in Gurku, reportedly wept profusely when he arrived the scene of the incident with his other children. Breaking News: Gov. wike demolishes Proudest hotel for violating lockdown order(Photos)

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has carried out his threat of demolishing Prodest (Prudent) Hotel at Alode in Eleme Local Government Area of the state. The governor had marked ‘Prudent’ Hotel, Alode, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne for demolition for allegedly flouting his government’s directive on the closure of hotels in the state. This was contained in a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim. But to the suprise of many residents, a demolition truck arrived at the location of Prodest Hotel at about 11:30 am accompanied by Governor Wike and other officials of the Rivers State task force, and the building was eventually brought down. 64 persons have tested positive for Covid-19 in Oyo State - Gov. Seyi Makinde

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Sunday said 64 people have so far tested for COVID-19 in the state. Makinde, who stated this in his tweeter handle monitored in Ibadan, said the five new confirmed cases announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday night, brought the number to 64. He tweeted “the COVID-19 confirmation tests for five suspected cases came back POSITIVE. “The cases are from the following local government areas: Ibadan North (2), a foreigner in Surulere, Ibadan North East (1) and Ibadan South West (1). “So the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is sixty-four.” He urged the general public to call the emergency operations centre, if they found travellers from other states arriving in their neighbourhood. He gave the numbers as 08095394000, 08095863000, 08078288999 or 08078288800. The five new confirmed cases in the state were among the 239 recorded in 15 states on Saturday by the NCDC.

Kwara police intercepts 200 suspected almajirai attempting to enter Lagos through its state

Police in  Kwara State on Saturday intercepted  about 200 youths suspected to be Almajirai  (street children)  from Katsina State attempting to travel through   the state  to Lagos. The  lorry with registration number Kaduna MKA 54 XL conveying the youths was  intercepted at  Kanbi/Oloru in the  Moro Local Government Area of the state. Spokesman for the police in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi,  confirmed the incident. According to Okasanmi, the youths claimed that they took off from Funtua in Katsina State and were heading to Lagos. FRSC refuses 719 vehicles into Lagos, Ogun

The Federal Road Safety Corps has said it stopped 791 vehicles from entering Ogun and Lagos states within five days, while enforcing the Federal Government’s restrictions on interstate movements. The FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of the two states, Mr Samuel Obayemi, disclosed this in Lagos to the  News Agency of Nigeria  on Saturday. Obayemi, an Assistant Corps Marshal, said officers of the corps, turned back 149 vehicles at the Lagos boundaries and 642 vehicles at Ogun boundaries between Monday, the first day of the lockdown ease, and Friday. The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) had announced the gradual easing of the lockdown order on Lagos, Ogun and Abuja, from Monday, May 4. Coronavirus:Sanwo-Olu threatens total Lockdown over non compliance of Lagosians

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has threatened to impose a total lockdown on the state if people continue to violate the safety guidelines issued to contain the spread of the virus in the state. He said the compliance with the use of face masks and social distancing directive had not been fully complied with and that the state had been recording more cases. He said, “If we do not see an improvement in the next couple of days, we would be forced to evoke the very painful decision of bringing the entire system under a lockdown again. “I’m aware that the Presidential Task Force has also made this point and very importantly that the continued maintenance of this ease is only guaranteed when people consistently comply. 239 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Nigeria as at May 9; as cases rises to 4151, with 128 deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Saturday night confirmed 239 new cases of COVID-19 in the country. The centre said on its Twitter handle that Nigeria now had 4,151 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 128 deaths. Meanwhile, 745 persons have been discharged from isolation facilities after they were given a clean bill of health by medical personnel. The breakdown of the figure on state-by-state basis showed the following: Lagos (97), Bauchi (44), Kano (29), Katsina (19), Borno (17), FCT (7), Kwara (6) and Oyo (5). Others are –Kaduna (3), Sokoto (3), Adamawa (2), Kebbi (2), Plateau (2), Ogun (2), and Ekiti (1). The NCDC said: “4,151 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. “Discharged: 745 AND Deaths: 128.”

Covid-19: Lockdown has not been effective- Lagos State HOA Speaker

Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly has stated that the lockdown order issued by President Buhari in the state has not been effective in curbing the spread of the disease.  The Speaker who called for domestication of the lockdown order in tweets he shared, averred that if the lockdown must continue,  it is better the state government moves with all strategies.  Obasa tweeted;  “I commend the Commissioner for Health @ProfAkinAbayomi, through him to the Executive Governor of Lagos @jidesanwoolu for your unrelenting effort on #COVID19. “But, I must say that the lockdown is not quite effective, can we domesticate the lockdown by involving the Local government? “Just as we have the incident command at the State level, can we replicate the same at those Local Government with high rising number of #COVID19. “If the lockdown will continue, it is better we move with all strategies."

Jigawa state govt receives 524 Almajiris deported from Kano over Covid-19 scare(photos)

Jigawa state Government has received 524 almajiris deported from Kano state. The state Governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar who received the almajiri at the NYSC camp in Jigawa on Thursday, said they would undergo medical screening before they are allowed back to their homes. According to the Governor, the children would be provided with beds and food until they are declared safe to be safe to mingle with other people in the society. While responding to Journalists the Governor said Jigawa has no intention to evacuate non indigene almajiri to their states as this would pose more danger in the spread of covid-19. The commissioner of Education, Mr Sunusi Kiru, who led the team that brought the almajiri to Jigawa said the children went through medical screening before they boarded for Jigawa. Police woman shot dead in Rivers by male colleague(Graphic photos)

A policeman who is a member of the Rivers state taskforce on COVID-19 lockdown, has allegedly killed a female colleague who is a nursing mother, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital. The incident reportedly happened inside a market at Eneka in Port Harcourt, today April 23. According to reports, the policewoman was attempting to stop the said police officer and other members of the taskforce from destroying the wares of the market women, when the erring officer opened fire. The bullet however hit the policewoman, killing her. Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner for Police, Joseph Mukan, said the erring policeman has been arrested, disarmed and subjected to orderly room trial. “A policeman attached to the taskforce did the shooting. He was shooting anyhow and in the process killed another policewoman. Miraculous: Covid-19 pregnant lady expected to give birth to dead baby, delivers a healthy baby

A pregnant COVID-19 patient was told by doctors that the baby in her womb had died due to complications from the deadly virus. However, she surprised doctors when she gave birth and the baby was alive. The pregnant mother gave birth on Wednesday, April 22, after doctors told her that she has to deliver her dead baby. Fortunately, when the baby was born, she was alive. Sharing the news to Twitter, the sister of the new mum wrote: "My sister has been in the hospital due to COVID 19. She was pregnant. They told her she lost the baby and she had to deliver the (deceased) baby today. She just delivered the baby. The baby was alive. Welcome my new niece into the world y'all. My God is GOOD."

Osun state govt orders the mandatory use of facemask

The Osun state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has announced the mandatory use of face mask in public places by residents. In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, April 23, the state governor said the mandatory use of facemask will take effect from Friday April 24th. Osun state has 20 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Peoples Democratic party Chieftain, Bode George, has questioned the Federal Government's response to the Coronavirus disease which has killed 28 people in Nigeria and left millions hungry and unemployed since the Federal Government enforced a lockdown in the affected states. Lagos State govt presents cheques to family of Abule Ado casualties

The Lagos State Government has presented cheques to the families who lost their loved ones in the Abule-Ado explosion. On the morning of Sunday, March 15, 2020, there was an enormous explosion that led to loss of lives and properties in Abule-Ado, Satellite Town, Lagos. The damage was extensive and the Lagos State Governor and his Deputy visited the scene of the explosion the following day. During the visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced he was launching a 2 Billion Naira relief fund for victims.
