Coronavirus death toll in the US reaches 50,000 as 2,416 people died in 24 hours

The Coronavirus death toll in the United States reached 50,000 on Thursday evening, April 23, as the number of confirmed cases rose to 890,027. According to the latest figures, additional 2,416 deaths were confirmed, bringing the total to 50,442. Confirmed cases rose by 34,828 bringing the total cases across the nation to 891,622.   The U.S. has both the highest number of confirmed cases in the world and the highest death toll.   The University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation now expects the national death toll to hit 65,976 by August.

South African police on hunt for woman who took to social media to call Pres Ramphosa "an ape trying to act like first world president"

A KwaZulu-Natal woman who took to social media in a rant against South Africa's President, Cyril Ramaphosa, and allegedly referred to him as "an Ape trying to act like a first world president", could be criminally charged for her post.   A man who read the post and was offended by it, went to the Brighton Beach police station, on Wednesday, to open a case against the woman. The man, who didn't want to reveal his identity, said he found the post to be in bad taste. “On the 23rd of April, I went up to my nearest police station in Brighton Beach to lodge a complaint and open a case against a lady that sent a Facebook page suggesting that the President is an ape pretending to act like a president of a first-world country. 21 people arrested for shooting pornographic contents during Covid-19 Lockdown(Photos)

21 people including a German national were arrested in Kenya while they were allegedly shooting 'pornographic content' in Nakuru during the Coronavirus lockdown. According to Kenya's Citizen TV, they were all arrested at a golf club within Milimani Estate in Nakuru on Wednesday evening.  They included 8 boys and 13 girls and were members of the same WhatsApp group disguised as a platform that supports talent growth, according to police officers.  Preliminary investigations revealed that they have been taking pictures and video shooting along the area for the past two weeks without following the measures put in place to halt the spread of Coronavirus.  Confirming the arrest, Nakuru East Deputy County Commissioner Elmi Shaffi said: “The youth were depicting nakedness, indecency and immoral behaviour that are against culture of Kenyans. 16 dead in Canada as man disguised police officer goes on shooting spree

At least 16 people have been killed in the small town of Nova Scotia, eastern part of Canada after a gunman disguised as a police officer went on a 12 hour rampage shooting people in their homes, and setting fires on Saturday night Canadian time.                                Gabriel Wortman (pictured above), 51, has been identified as the suspect and was confirmed dead by RCMP Chief Superintendent Chris Leather, after a manhunt for the fleeing suspect that started on Saturday midnight and ended on Sunday morning. Breaking: Private hospital in Lekki confirms two staffs positive of COVID-19

A private hospital in Lekki Phase One area of Lagos, Vedic Lifecare, has said two of its staff tested positive for COVID-19. The hospital in a statement on Monday said the staff contracted the disease after treating a patient, who unknowingly had COVID-19. It said, “Dear customers and visitors, approximately 10 days ago, we had an in-patient who later tested positive for COVID 19 after discharge. “As per protocols set by NCDC, we have tested our staff who have come in contact with the COVID-19 positive patient and unfortunately, we have had two staff members who tested positive yesterday. “The patient and our staff are now being managed by the NCDC at their isolation centre. “Till this moment, they do not show any symptoms.
