Anambra Police arrest man who specializes in snatching motorcycles


Police in Anambra State have arrested a 24 years old man, Monday Eze, who specializes in snatching motorcycles from their unsuspecting owners.

Eze who hails from Ebonyi State was arrested on Friday with a locally made pistol at Nnewi, Anambra State.
The State Police Command’s Spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed who revealed this in a press release said Eze operates as a one-man gang.
He said, “On 8/5/2020 at about 1:30pm following an intelligence report, Police operatives attached to Central Police Station Nnewi in conjunction with vigilante group arrested one Monday Eze ‘m’ aged 24 years of Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State.
“Suspect specializes in snatching motorcycles at gunpoint from unsuspecting motorcycle riders.
“He met his waterloo on the 8/5/2020 when he allegedly robbed and snatched a Qlink motorcycle belonging to one Mr Mbam Patrick ‘m’ at Ndiaku-Anozie, Uruagu Nnewi.
“Exhibits recovered from the suspect include the snatched motorcycle, one locally-made gun and other personal effects of the victim. The case under investigation after which the suspect would be charged to the Court for prosecution.
Haruna said the Commissioner of Police, CP John B.Abang, enjoins the public particularly motorcycle riders to be extra vigilant on the persons they pick up as passengers as some of them belong to motorcycle snatching syndicate who disguise as passengers to snatch motorcycles at a slight opportunity.”

Breaking News: 39.4 million Nigerians will be jobless by the end of the year - FG

The Federal Government has raised the fear that except something urgent is done, about 39.4 million Nigerians may be jobless by the end of the year as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
